You can still find bargains after the Memphis outlet store closes
MEMPHIS · November 16, 2007–Levenger closes its bricks-and-mortar outlet store on Spotswood Avenue November 30, but customers
can still find Levenger-for-less after that.
The company’s virtual outlet, on Levenger.com, discounts overstocks. In addition, Levenger will hold periodic sales events right inside its Distribution
Center on Raines Road here in Memphis. The company held two of these warehouse sales in 2007 and plans to continue them in the years ahead.
"We think customers will find both of these options to be convenient ways to shop for our sale merchandise," said Steve Gilliam, Levenger
Chief Financial Officer. "Plus, we offer a number of our overstocks on eBay."
Because it’s possible to offer discounted items in these different ways, there was no longer a need for a separate outlet store, Gilliam said.
All employees who worked at the outlet have been invited to apply for open positions elsewhere in the company.
Levenger designs a carefully edited line of high-quality products for reading, writing, work and travel. Selections include customized notebooks, pens
designed to hold a choice of different refills, leather goods, home-library furnishings and specialty books. Its catalog, known for its tagline of "Tools
for Serious Readers," reaches millions of homes nationwide.
Levenger also operates five stores, in Boca Raton, Boston, Chicago and Tysons Corner, Virginia. The 20-year-old company is based in Delray Beach, Florida.
Customers who would like first dibs on products at upcoming warehouse sales should sign up for the catalog so that they’ll receive the postcard
announcements that Levenger will send. Customers can request a catalog on Levenger.com—and while they’re there, click on the Sale button and check out
the virtual outlet.
