Changes to design
If this is to be used for a phone you need to consider easy of retrieval from the bag. If instead of a zipper how about adding a magnetized flap? In doing that when the phone rings instead of wrestling with a zipper you lift the flap and retrieve the phone. I would also add a couple of more inches to the crossbody strap as 23 inches is not truly crossing the body but is over the shoulder. 23 inches over a winter coat is quite tight.
