I needed a way to mark where I was last working in my book so I could go right back to it and these were a stylish alternative to post it notes. My only complaint would be that it tends to bend the pages if I'm not far enough back and I'm nervous that it is going to rip pages because it's basically a really big rubber band. All together I got them because they were on sale and I am actually really happy with them. I would not have bought them if not on sale.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good Looking, Grippy Bands
from SF Bay Area
My lightweight, paper Russell & Hazel padfolio came with one of these wide, attractive, grippy rubber bands. I used that padfolio with Freeleaf pads for a few years - eventually had to have it recovered. But when the rubber band broke...I tried several replacements: a custom elastic band, two thin #10 rubber bands, even the elastic bands for the LapDesks - nothing worked. Elastic just isn't grippy enough. The two thin rubber bands were a hassle and didn't look very good. Since then I've bought two other folios to carry my FreeLeaf pads--one leather and one fabric--but they are thick and heavy. Then one day, I noticed these large Spice It Up rubber bands. These are perfect! The picture shows them doubled-up and holding the notebook closed--but I find they are a perfect substitute for an interior pocket. Now my old R&H folio is back in business. All day long I write and just slip the torn-out sheet under the rubber band; it holds loose papers well and can even grip small receipts until the end of the day.Maybe Levenger will get the lightweight folio in stock before mine bites the dust again.
