True Writer Obsidian Fountain Pen 4.2 5 22 22
Love this Pen I have purchased several Levenger pens and this is my first fountain pen with Levenger. I Love my new pen. Most of the reviews I read prior were spot on. Once the ink starts to flows its smooth writing. The only problem I have had is with the ink leaking on my fingers and once while working with pen in hand. The ink flew out of the end and landed on my face. Pomegranate ink spot on my nose. Just happy it didn’t land on my clothes or my clients. I will remember to always put the pen down unless writing with it. November 4, 2014
Great Gift Given to a friend with a new job. Smooth, no skips, nice balance and weight. Comfortable to hold. Admired by co-workers. November 1, 2014
My New Every Day Carry Pen I was surprised at how much that I like this pen. I've been tempted by fountain pens over the years but I've never managed to get the trick of writing with one. I have one beautiful, expensive one, given as a gift years ago, and I can't get anything out of it other than a blob of ink (I've since switched from a broad to a fine nib and now it writes great). The True Writer is perfect. It's inexpensive enough that I don't feel overly protective of it. It feels great in the hand, especially when you load an extra ink cartridge in the barrel (you have to put the extra in "head first" for it to fit). I use it daily to write in my journal, to make notes, and to sign credit card receipts. The fine nib leaves a thin, but clear line. I find that using this pen that I slow down, which helps to make my largely illegible handwriting mostly readable. If you'd like to try using a fountain pen, this would be an excellent first pen. It looks great and appears much grander than the current sale price would indicate. And it makes writing fun. I highly recommend it. October 30, 2014
This is a great pen, I really enjoy the True Writer. I would prefer this pen to be a metal barrel instead of the plastic. It writes wonderful with a smooth flow. Be careful when you put an extra cartridge in the barrel, I did so and the cartridge got damaged and leaked everywhere.... This is the first time this has ever happened to me and I've been using true writer fountain pens for more than 10 years. Great pen! You will love it. August 28, 2014
Good Starter Fountain Pen This was a gift for my son on his graduation. He loves it! July 31, 2014
A Hit with my Grand Daughter Based on the reviews here, I selected the true writer as an 8th grade graduation gift for my very tech-savvy grand daughter who is a budding writer. She was enchanted with it and everyone who tried writing with it exclaimed about how very smoothly it writes. She found the old school technology of filling it easy to use and the lovely, sophisticated engraving of her initials on the obsidian black background made it all the more special. We are new to the world of fountain pens, but the true writer seems to have been a great introductory choice. July 10, 2014
Quality Writing Tool and Affordable! Once I got the ink cartridge in the pen casing and got it flowing, I found that the pen writes like a dream. Nice strokes and no blotting or dripping — very neat writing. If you're looking for a good fountain pen at a price you can afford, this one is it. February 15, 2014
leaves ink I have this pen and it is beautiful to handle but i found out later that it was leaving ink on my fingers. March 11, 2013
Wonderful pen, but it could be a trap... Sleek pen, I enjoy the screw-on cap and its fluid writing. Great pen, save for one thing--every time I write with it, I somehow find blotches of ink all over my finger. I've had a fountain pen before and that never happened. The funny thing is that I've tried to figure out where the ink is coming from, but have found nothing. I have traced all contact areas with my fingers and get nothing. But EVERYTIME I write, my fingers are royally inked up. If I am missing something here, I would appreciate any answers. January 28, 2013
Awesome value pen I ordered the True Writer Obsidian after losing my Sea Glass pen, which I still hope to find. I was sorely missing the feel and the romance (for lack of a better word) of writing with a fountain pen. I'd been looking for my lost one for months and decided to purchase something a little more "economy" until I could afford to replace, or better yet find, my Sea Glass pen. So far I have not been disappointed with the Obsidian. It didn't start right away, but once it did, the writing was smooth and the ink flow steady. The only thing I wished, was that the pen had a little more heft to it. A slightly thicker barrel would be nice, but otherwise I have no complaints about this pen and would recommend to anyone looking to start their fountain pen obsession, I mean collection ;-) May 2, 2012
