Read in peace while others snooze
Halogen light—crisp, white, bright
Attractive in all four hues.

Feel the concentrated light!
Telescope shades, filtered rays
Not to mention the perfect height.

To the eyes it is quite pleasing
Frosted glass lens, solid brass shine
And it don't mind if you're sneezing.
Midnight Reader Table Lamp
What a gift (sure beats a pony)
Or sweaters that you'll soon return
Plus it makes your room all homey.

I lay awake
My eyes open wide
My husband is snoring
Loudly at my side.
I reach for my copy
of Edgar Allan Poe
And read long into the night
Under the Midnight Readers glow.
Beneath its crisp, clear light
The days troubles are well foregone
Although now I've visions of ravens and floorboards
So I think I'll leave the light on.

Sticking out your neck for me

Midnight Reader
Bend your head, O little light, concur
with all my seeking and my puzzling doubt;
Your neck, sinuously feminine, incline, demur,
illumine the pacing letters, cryptic root
of my opining. Cast your web of glow
into my gloom and worm my secrets out
by the calm intelligence of your photon flow.
O Midnight Reader, show me all you know.
But what is this? Your bright disk lights a spark:
ideas contrary, breaking news, a jolt;
another voice displaces mine in the dark
sea of others' minds in which I float.
Admirable midwife of night companionship!

When the muse comes calling late at night
And I've no other page to turn
I turn on my Midnight Table Lamp
To shed light on that night poem that burns
With insistence that it be recorded

It lasts.
I have used this lamp almost every day for 13 years.. The neck is still stiff and easy to position, the switch still works well, the focus feature is still accurate. Finally, last month, the original light bulb burned out! The Antique Brass finish gets a little rough looking. I think I'd get a smoother finish if I had to buy a second one, which I certainly would, cost not withstanding. An excellent item, directs light as it says and is very well made..

The Perfect Reading Lamp
I bought one about a year ago, but my husband has sneaked it for himself, so now i buy another. The heft, the grace of the lamp, the ease of dimming....This lamp is worth having two. I knew I would like it as it is German made. Levenger should brag about the resulting high quality.
