A Fair Trade, artisan-made pillow that supports your iPad -- and international literacy
Artisans in rural India crafted this tablet and book pillow for you, employing the ancient technique of hand-carved woodblocks. They then joined the fabric blocks using a traditional and distinctive stitch known as kantha, and layered them onto a second, interior fabric for form and texture. This artisan group had all but vanished, but now is thriving thanks to projects like this one for Levenger. We partnered with a member organization of the Fair Trade Federation in creating this reading pillow, which offers a marshmallow-soft landing in your lap. We are also donating to a literacy group that reaches the rural communities of India, as part of our commitment to support reading and those who aspire to it the world over.
