Even now, scholars are not sure what Lincoln read from when he delivered his address at Gettysburg that November day in 1863. Nor was anyone (including Lincoln) completely certain about the number of words. But this we do know: Abraham Lincoln wrote — in his own hand — at least five versions of his Gettysburg Address.
