Comments about Levenger True Writer® Select Four-Nib Sampler:

I like the True Writer series, and have ventured into the Select group for the three colors currently available. I've also availed myself of several of the individual regular TW nibs, as I like to change widths occasionally. With my latest acquisition being the first Levenger pen that I've purchased in used condition, I found myself owning 2 with "F" nibs. These pens are also currently residing in a luxurious 2 pen sleeve, and I find having the same nib width limiting. Since changing these nibs is such a simple procedure, it's easy to solve a situation of this type. I looked at the selection of nibs, and really couldn't decide what I might like on the new pen. Then I noted the four nib sampler. I'm already using all 4 of the regular TW nibs on various color pens, and like to use all of them for varied uses, from note taking to journal and letter writing, and to signing of correspondence produced on my printer. Since I couldn't decide on a nib, I took advantage of a holiday sale, and bought the Sampler. That's already at a bargain price, with the addition of the stub nib. Those require hands on grinding and polishing by an artisan, and are priced considerably above the normal nib price. Buying the Sampler adds the stub, at a reduced price, making it a solid buy for someone wanting the versatility.

Calling the packaging a "handsome storage box" is a bit of a stretch. They are packed in a heavy plastic sleeve, with a folded card inserted, with directions for changing nibs, and examples of the various widths. It does add a layer of protection, and conveniently groups the nibs, for those of us collectors that have a selection of various styles and brands at hand. Mine remain in the container, and it is a good place to insert the replaced nib, so that it doesn't roam and become lost. I've settled on the "M" nib for the new pen, and it is sufficiently different from the "F" to give me the versatility I desired. I may avail myself of the "B" later, great for signatures.
