The Making of The Finest Hour 5 5 9 9
Excellent Gift for WWII collectors, writers I bought this for my husband who is very interested in WWII history, especially the dynamics between the leaders: Churchill, Hitler, Roosevelt. This book is a rare inside glimpse into statesmanship and crafting speeches and transports one back to the time and place. The book is beautifully bound and absolutely captivating. The price is a bargain, given the historical significance. February 1, 2008
Great Gift I recently purchased "The Making of the Finest Hour" as a Christmas gift for my father. He enjoys historical books and this was different than anything else we had ever bought him. My father enjoyed it very much. He read the book and played the CD within days of receiving it. He told me it was definitely a great gift. February 1, 2008
Makes a great gift for a history buff To be able to see the actual notes that Churchill made on the text was very interesting--and to then listen to the recording while reading the notes made it extra special. February 1, 2008
A Churchill's fan delight My husband is a huge Churchill fan. I ordered this book, plus two old books from London. I can't wait to give him this one, THE MAKING OF THE FINEST HOUR, because it shows Churchill's thought process when writing the speech. HIstory at your fingertips! December 14, 2007
After reading this book I showed it to a friend. Both of us gave it great reviews and another copy was ordered as Christmas gift. Great production values in both the book and the CD. November 29, 2007
First rate material Excellent quality --ti's first rate! Keep up the good work. It's exactly what one would expect from Levenger. October 27, 2007
The Making of the Finest Hour This is not a book you sit and read as a novel. It is a study item to be tackled piece by piece, morsel by morsel. It's a study of style and function; a study of the author and his vibes. A study of history. October 23, 2007
Churchill buff's dream! This book and CD provides a wonderful insight into how this great man thought and worked. I've listend to, and read it, several times, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. October 18, 2007
A Hit I gave this to my father in law on his 80th birthday. He absolutely loved it - and that is saying a lot, as it is not always easy to impress him. He told me he often likes to quote Churchill, and realized from reading this book that he had to make a few corrections! He loves having the "real deal." Keep these wonderful books coming.
