The Ordinary and the Exceptional
Priestley has an eye for the ordinary and the exceptional, and shows us that the difference is more related to our attitude.Reading these brief essays, which cover everything from daily routines to singular moments in time, I found that they stirred memories of my own joys from childood, and pointed out that delight is often something not realized until one looks back. These essays are delights in themselves, but for me, the real value of the book is in training my 'eye' to note the delightful as I trudge through the everyday. I've started writing my own 'book of delights'.Os.
Very, very nice gift

When paired with an engraved Friendship Keepsake Box, this makes an awesome and thoughtful gift for a fellow bibliophile!

Fabulous little book, easy to read and brought a smile and warm thoughts with each page turned. Concise and a perfect way to begin one's day while enjoying the quiet solitude of the early morning...along with a good cup of coffee and my cereal.Though it comes from a different era in time, there was so much to relate to. Certainly an enjoyable piece for those north of 50 years of age. The kind of reading that nudges you to reflect on the simple daily occurences of both past and present. Occurences that bring so much meaning and satisfaction to the process of living.

I purchased the book as a gift. The presentation was beautiful. Outstanding!

This is the type of book I want to write myself, choosing my very own selection of favorites. The idea of putting down your own thoughts regarding all those things that make you smile inadevertently, lift your worries from your being, and think positively about the world and your pace in it, is very rewarding. For all those reasons I enjoyed this book, as I enjoyed other volumes that have been chosen by Levenger Publications, because the message is unadulterated, genuine, and the reader gets the sense that a vacuum is filled with purpose and narrative. Also, I find the presentation quite adequate, being a collector of fine books as I am.

This was a wonderful read - can be digested in bits or in its entirety. Many of the thoughts brought a smile to my face from my own memories.

I actually bought this as a gift for my husband. He has thoroughly enjoyed the introspective writings. But as much as the words within; he has drawn pleasure from the actual 'book' itself. Each time he picks it up; he inhales the scent of the leather cover and runs his hand over its smoothness. My enjoyment is the pleasure I see in him each time he picks up this little treasure.
Iwanted to keep it for myself!

I bought the book for a friend. I read through it before I wrapped it, and was engrossed for an hour. Late for the party. It is a beautiful volume both in text and appearance. My friend loves it, and tells me constantly how much pleasure it gives her.Thank you for keeping up the best in books, both the writing and the beauty.
This was a gift for a old family friend who has had a tough time in life for a long time. She has lost a lot and still keeps on living life. I think it gave her a nice smile when she read it.
