These are not my first L-Tech fountain pens, and as I expected, if they are not used consistently they can be a pain to restore ink flow. If mine has been sitting for a day or two I automatically just dip the nib in cold water, and dry it off with an absorbent lint free towel. Works 99% of the time. My only problem with the pens is that I ordered one with a fine point nib, and a second one with a broad (stub-like?) nib. In our firm we follow the old-fashioned scheme where each individual has a specific color ink to use for signatures so that they can be readily authenticated. My only, but it is a serious one, complaint about the pens is that while the labels say that one is a "BROAD", and the other is a "FINE" nib, there is absolutely no difference in the way the inked writing with either pen. I went as far as to send it upstairs to our lab, thinking I must be confused, and we have some pretty precise calibrated instruments up there, however when the tech emailed me the results my observations were confirmed. You can call it anything you want as far as naming the inked writing width, but there should be some observable difference between both ends of the spectrum, from "Fine" to "Broad" and there isn't any such difference. Since the pen with the broad nib was purchased as a signature pen, and the pen with the fine nib was purchased for writing critical but conventional documents from Rx to Corrections on PDF's where space can be tight, they were purchased for specific purposes but now they are just conventional pens, OK, but far less than expected, first one does not create the"Signature"in its intended form, and the second really isn't a fine enough point to do what I wanted it to do on the documents in question. But, if you are the casual user who is happy writing with a medium width pen, there isn't a better buy if you catch this one on sale as I did.. Only other "complaint" is that there are no instructions as to how to remove the top of the cap& install stylus?

I was so excited when I ordered this pen. It came in a beautiful box and was well made. I wanted nothing more but to give it 5+ stars across the board. To my disappointment I have a beautiful pen that writes terribly! It takes a while to get going, but if I pause for a few minutes, it stops and I have to start again trying to get it to write. The first day I used it at work I thought it was just because it was new but the problems continue. I was embarrassed when our CEO asked to use it (since it was in my pocket) and it did not work. Very dissapointed.

Mixed feelings

By

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I just bought my 2nd L-Tech Fountain Pen. I love my first one, which I bought with a Fine nib. I decided (against my better judgement having read reviews about ink flow) to buy a new one with a Medium nib. It arrived last night. I tried using it today. It is not easy to use, with the ink drying on the nib even between words if I hesitate as I'm writing (you know, to actually think of what I'm writing or reference something else). To my surprise when I contacted Levenger support to swap my pen for one with a fine nib I was told NO - buy another nib for around $24. Now, if $24 was going to break me I shouldn't be buying fountain pens. But that isn't the point. The nib is not working as stated, I want to replace it with one that will hopefully work better and customer service is using this as an up sell opportunity?

Levenger - I've used your products for years as have friends and family. You may have just lost a customer over this poor experience.

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I hesitated in buying this fountain pen when I read the reviews regarding ink flow. The price was right and I love fountain pens so I bought it. The ink flow is fine and the pen is great. I love it.

Fountain Pen Delight!

By

from Upstate NY

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I really don't have a great need to write with pen and paper but I love to write and do so as often as possible. I have a couple of other fountain pens from the inexpensive to the rather expensive. I just received my new L-Tech fountain pen in Stealth Black and upon opening the box I was most pleased. I had mine monogramed and they did a fine job on it with a pleasing look and feel. When I first picked up the pen I instantly noted the weight and the heft of the pen in my hand feels quite good. It feels solid and well made and feels at least as good as the $300 fountain pen I also own and I certainly like the fact that the L-Tech is also a stylus with 2 included tips.

After my initial inspection it was time to move on to the performance of the pen. Every stylus I've ever owned has had a silicone tip and I've had mixed results. This tip seems to glide more smoothly than any of the others I've used in the past. It could just be that the tip is new so only time will tell if it continues to be a delight to use. The other tip is of course the fabric mesh and I've had no past experience with those so I was eager to try it. I admit that I had some trouble getting the blank cap removed but, it could've been installed mechanically and there also isn't much of an area to grip. The solution was as simple as wrapping the end with a cloth and using the pliers on my SwissTool ™ and the cap easily came off. I had much the same experience with the mesh tip as the silicone and I honestly hope that both continue to perform just as well into the future. Naturally, the most important function of any pen is in how well it will actually write and I've read several reviews that say this is where the L-Tech falls a bit short. I haven't had much time to spend with my pen but I can certainly say that my first impression was an excellent one. I decided on the medium nib since my other nice pen has a fine nib on it and I wanted more options for line weight. The line was quite bold but I like…

I love the look and feel of this pen, but ink flow a problem

By

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I so wanted to love this pen. While it's great looking and feels great in my hand, I have to agree with the many others that have complained about the sub-par ink flow. At first I though that maybe the pen just needed a "break-in" period to work well, but every time I uncap the pen it's a gamble whether it will work correctly. Mostly the pen just sits on my desk simply looking good.

Excellent pen

from Seattle, WA.

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I've wanted to like this pen for a long time; owned it twice before, in different incarnations (once when it was called a Sanford, I think); but each of those had a defect, wouldn't deliver ink consistently, etc. I all but gave up, but decided to try one more time; and I'm glad I did. I've just had it a few days, but gave it every reasonable opportunity to fail; let it sit without the cap for half an hour between writings, etc. It came through with flying colours, and suitable grace. It is a fine, fine pen, and I'm glad I gave it one more chance. To quote a famous movie line, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship..."

Great heft, poor ink flow

By

from Forest City, NC

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

I read the reviews before purchasing this pen but felt that because so many had criticized the ink flow performance, I believed Levenger would have addressed the problem. Not so. I love the look, and particularly the solid feel of the pen in my hand. However, I will not use this pen for my daily work (real estate agent) because I need a pen I can depend upon to write consistently all the time.

What they said...

By

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

No need to be redundant: ink flow is problematic to the point of throw-it-across-the-courtroom-if-I-wanted-3-hots-and-a-cot frustration.
Other than that, looks great, feels great. I bought it for function, though, not just frills.

Fountain pen

By

from San Antonio tx

Comments about Levenger L-Tech 3.0 Fountain Pen:

The pen itself is a great design , heavyset pen but feels great in the hand .. Now the function of the pen is not so great . The ink flow is never consistent and if you don't use the pen after 2 days or so it's a pain to get the ink flow to start sometimes to the point where you just don't want to use it ... Stick to ball point or rollerball
