I agree with several of the other reviewers: love the bag for its sleekness, size, versatility and compartments, but wish it had a small handle at the top - I don't always want to sling it over a shoulder. A second "wish" would perhaps be a outside pouch on the side where you could stuff a compact umbrella or a water bottle. When I started looking for a bag like this, I thought I wanted leather, but I think the coated canvas may well wear better - and sturdy leather would add weight.

This is a beautifully made bag, with great attention to detail. The compartmental organization is a little odd and limited, but can be gotten used to. The file/laptop compartment is very nice and protects papers and computers well. BUT, this is a "convertible" backpack/messenger bag. And that is where this really well-made bag fails. The strap slips and is never the right length - and that's for the shoulder bag use. There is NO using this as a backpack, which is my preferred mode. The strap buckle's slipping is secondary to the problem with there being no way to fix the straps in place. It is impossible to grab the backpack and go - great maneuvering is required and I usually just sling the long (slipped) end over my shoulder. I looked for a long time before selecting a bag - and I am horribly disappointed in this one. Now I have to return to looking for a suitable bag, and I'm out the money for this one.

Perfect bag for my professional needs

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

I work in baseball and needed a lightweight messenger bag that was sturdy enough to handle the ballpark yet professional enough for the front office. I also prefer vertical to horizontal messengers, as horizontal always feel too bulky for crowded spaces.

This bag is proving ideal. It's just roomy enough for my gear, light enough to carry around all day, has a comfortable strap, and--despite spending a lot of time stored under benches--doesn't show dirt. (Note: I bought the tan bag.) Definitely an upgrade from what I was using before.

This is a well made, thin version of the usual bulky backpack. I can still carry my computer and test papers to grade. It is made in a very sturdy way with good material.

About Me Casual Dresser

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

I use this product for my daily walks as it allows me to carry my tablet, keys, cellphone, and small personal items without the need for carrying a purse as well. I particularly like the lengths [minimum and maximum] to serve three different functions. It is light weight, and I love all the compartments which keeps everything tucked away for safety. I also love the storage bag that accompanies it!

About Me Casual Dresser

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

I've been a fan of Levenger since they began. I sadly haven't been able to purchase many things for myself, but they are always tops with me for the designs they create and the quality that they put into everything they do. It's one of the only catalogs I get in the mail that has me drooling over things I really can't afford because I live on next to nothing. But soon, Levenger, soon...

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

I have the bomber jacket brief which works great for when I am going to be out and about for several hours and want to carry my water bottle, along with my computer and camera. However, it is not water resistant, and on rainy days I prefer to use this new purchase with its water resistant canvass. The straps, as other reviewers have commented, can be tricky. The strap will stay in place if my load is light but will slip when I have more weight in the bag. Knowing this, I just take the time to correct it after I have it on my back. It is slick bag for walking and biking with a light load!

Light and nice

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

This bag was larger than I expected but I have really enjoyed using it these last few months. It is very light and holds much more than you would expect. I wear it cross-body style and agree with the comments about have a small handle to grab at the top when picking the bag up. The quality is wonderful and I know will last a very long time.

Trim Pack

By

from Central Illinois

About Me Classic Dresser

Verified Buyer

Comments about Levenger Traveler Convertible Messenger-Backpack:

Nicely trim, waterproof, convertible vertical bag/backpack. Easily accessable outside zipper pockets will store a variety of items within reach without opening the main flap-covered compartment. Housed items are water-safe due to waxed material. Rather feminine business backpack which allows hands-free travel if necessary during commuting or sightseeing excursions. Its compact design allows close-to/the and cross-body carriage and diminishes upper-body backpack overload and awkward navigation and balance issues if bicycle commuting. Additionally, five zippered compartments protect contents from loss if bag is accidentally inverted or in jostling crowds. Shoulder strap easily adjusts for cross-body carriage or backpack configuration. Lower front and upper main compartments are double-zippered allowing two-way access or lockable security with a small device if needed. The upper main under-the-flap compartment easily holds a 15" MacBook Pro, leaving room to spare for a few files or other items. There is an under the flap and main compartment slip pockets which extend the length of the bag to maintain mostly wrinkle-free transport of flat items. Altogether a well-designed multi-functional bag.

Although this bag was purchased for my own use, my husband quizzically states he might need "to borrow it" for himself. His interest is always a good sign. Thanks, Levenger!
