The Beat goes on in these coffeehouse-worthy Blackwing pencils
In 1948, amidst the uncertainty of post-war America, the Beat Generation was born. This literary movement, rooted in anti-materialism and the exploration of the human condition, gathered in the coffeehouses of New York and San Francisco to recite poetry alongside endless cups of black coffee. During the '50s and '60s, coffeehouses became synonymous with creativity and intellectualism. The Blackwing 200 is a tribute to coffeehouses and the creative culture they help cultivate. Each pencil features a metallic copper design inspired by classic copper coffee roasting machines found in many coffeehouses during the ’50s and ’60s. These Blackwing pencils also feature a firm graphite core that is perfect for finding inspiration in a local coffeehouse.
About Blackwing
The original Blackwing 602 pencil was introduced by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company in 1934, created for artists, writers and musicians. It became an instant favorite for creators and pencil aficionados like John Steinbeck, Quincy Jones, Stephen Sondheim and Thomas Wolfe. The pencils were discontinued in 1994, and the Blackwing was re-released in 2010 by Charles Berolzheimer II of the CalCedars Company as a tribute to the original.
