Pencils that pay homage to one of the greatest baseball players in history
In 1947, Jackie Robinson was called up to the Major Leagues by the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier and providing much needed momentum to the desegregation movement that extended well beyond baseball. The Blackwing Volume 42 is a tribute to Jackie Robinson and those who pursue their passions, creative or otherwise, regardless of the obstacles in their way. It features our balanced graphite, a blue imprint and eraser, road gray ferrule, and the iconic red 42.
About Blackwing
The original Blackwing 602 pencil was introduced by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company in 1934, created for artists, writers and musicians. It became an instant favorite for creators and pencil aficionados like John Steinbeck, Quincy Jones, Stephen Sondheim and Thomas Wolfe. The pencils were discontinued in 1994, and the Blackwing was re-released in 2010 by Charles Berolzheimer II of the CalCedars Company as a tribute to the original.
