The Visconti Van Gogh rollerball pen for serious readers
Visconti's latest Van Gogh rollerball pen design draws inspiration from the master’s thought-provoking painting
The Novel Reader. Thought to have been created by the artist around mid-November 1888 in Arles, France, the painting depicts a woman deeply absorbed in a book—indeed, Van Gogh was a vocal proponent of the idea that all women should be encouraged to read modern novels to influence their thinking and worldview. The image is rendered in an expressionistic style and was seemingly concocted from his imagination rather than a live subject. Visconti’s rollerball pen is crafted from natural resin, brought to life with swirls of teal, burgundy, yellow and green hues to recreate Van Gogh’s technique, emotions and mood. A reproduction of the painting is printed on top of the box and on a special edition bookmark included with each pen. Made in Italy.
