"I have been buying ink and other items from Levenger for over 25 years, but have never purchased a fountain pen for myself until now. I could not be more pleased with the True Writer Herringbone! The weight and balance are perfect for me. The black lacquered brass brass barrel and gold accents make for a beautiful pen. If you prefer a pen with a little heft, you will enjoy this pen. The German made nib is smooth and has the perfect amount of flex. This pen impressed me!"
"What an outstanding pen this is! It really is that item where the picture does not do it justice. That herringbone detailing on the pen is amazing, it looks like it would be chiseled but it has a softness to the touch. It reminds me of a chased ebonite which is by far one of my favorite pen materials. The pen is a bit heavier than most of the acrylic True Writers but that is of no worry considering what you are writing with. All of the True Writer qualities are there and embodied in a pen that looks like it would cost much more than Levenger prices it. I am so impressed. My collection holds over several hundred pens and this one holds its own against any of the heavy hitters. Besides, it just makes me happy."

"In this new year, I am trying to be more analogue and less digital. This means more writing. I have always admired Leveger’s True Writer fountain pens. They are very beautiful instruments and are often well regarded by users. So I decided to add the Herringbone to my burgeoning pen collection. I love the black and gold color way, timeless. The medium nib writes beautifully with no scratchiness. I am also going to get a fine nib, just to see the difference. I installed the cartridge and am using Parker Raven Qwink, and love the results. If you want a high quality, metal barrel fountain pen that is not super expensive, I totally recommend this one. You won’t be disappointed."
