The LeBoeuf Pen Company is proud to present the James Madison U.S. Constitution Limited Edition Rollerball Pen paying homage to the 4th President of the United States and the principal writer of the United States Constitution. James Madison (1751–1836) was elected as a delegate to the Virginia Convention in 1776. In 1778, he was appointed to the Virginia Council of State, where he formed strong and enduring ties with fellow Virginian Thomas Jefferson. At the age of 29, Madison was the youngest member of the 1780 Continental Congress. Unsatisfied with the Articles of Confederation, he led the way in calling for the Constitutional Convention of 1787, at which he wrote and presented the Virginia Plan, a precursor to the Constitution with its three branches of government, bicameral legislature, and independent judiciary. The Constitution was eventually signed and ratified on September 17th, 1787. In addition to his work on the original Constitution, he has been credited with compiling the Bill of Rights—Madison proposed 19 amendments from the plethora of suggestions received, of which 10 became our Bill of Rights. He served as Secretary of State during the Jefferson administration, then won the 1808 presidential election and served two terms. The James Madison Limited Edition Rollerball is crafted of an exclusive Golden Yellow/Azure Blue marbled acrylic material inspired by the colors of the Philadelphia City Flag, the birthplace of the Constitution. Madison’s signature is engraved on the barrel, and a gold coin featuring Constitution Hall is fitted on top of the cap. Limited edition of just 187 pens worldwide.
