Reviews

"Beautiful pen body, but the ink dries almost immediately if you stop writing for even five seconds (no I am not exaggerating) and leaves a sticky powder of dried ink that clogs the breather hole and into the slit between the tines. Maybe it’s the included cartridge and I’ll clean it out and try another ink. I’m disappointed, did not expect this from Levenger."

Gorgeous, but . . .

"I've thought about getting this fountain pen since it was first introduced. The lovely cream color with the dark swirls really spoke to me. And the pen *is* lovely, but the cream is more white, so it's a little less captivating and more just kind of regular."

Is this Acrylic?

"The title is appropriate once you have this beautiful true Writer in your hand. The True Writer series of pens are the perfect size pens for me since I have a smaller to medium size hand. This is where they may or may not be the pen for everyone. The flawless construction and the nibs that write well, even if they are a bit stiff, are hallmarks of the series. But the true stars are the acylics that the pens are made from and this is where we find ourselves with this pen. It is captivating in the billowing clouds of a creamy white mixed with dark lines. Does it resemble a rare quartz or is it a rein mixture trying to resemble that or is it a clod the is being stirred? I don't know because it looks like all three. This is not your usual pen. The office meeting will be different when you pull this out of your pocket and the rest have cheap ballpoints or some other black pen. This pen will emphasize that you are your own person. It's just what you need."

The pen is very good

"The pen is very good looking, but it arrived non-working; the ink would not flow the nib of the pen. I was instructed to ask it in water overnight, but it did not correct the issue. Instead the ink flowed out through the top of the pen. Levenenger is sending me out a new nib. I have purchased several fountain pens from Levenger and had problems. One pen had no ink cartridge or the Levenger instructions on how to use the converter. I contacted Levenger and they said they would send me a cartridge, but never did. I purchased a pen set as a Christmas gift which included the pen, cartridge, converter and bottle of ink. The pen did not come with the written instructions on how to use the converter. Upon contacting Levenger I was told the kit did not come with an instruction brochure, although when I ordered the very same pen separately I received the instruction brochure. I was told the gift receiver could go the the Levenger website and read directions online how to use the converter. But there are no instructions in the box that tell the buyer to look online. I purchased a third fountain pen made by Conklin. It arrived in the typical Levenger box, but again had no instructions on how to use the converter. I was told the Conklin brand pen, although it arrived in the same Levenger box as their "True Writer" pens do not come with an instruction brochure because it was not a "True Writer" pen. So you have to buy a "True Writer" pen to receive instructions, but only a "True Writer" pen purchased by itself and not in a kit, which does not receive instructions. If this sounds ludicrous, it is because it is. Filling a fountain pen with ink is from a bygone era and it is ridiculous if Levenger thinks instructions are not required. Although these pens are great looking, they are not suitable for gift giving because most people will not be familiar with the converter and how it works and Levenger is not providing that support for customers."

Thought You Folks Were Better

"I don't recommend getting this pen. Although it looks good online, what you actually get is a different color. The return policy and procedure is so cumbersome and Un-CustomerFriendly, their charges cost almost as much to return. This switcheroo (or lack of quality control) made me not trust Levenger products as presented. I used to go to their retail stores consistently; but since those are no more and this experience happened, I haven't trusted the products. . . , I go to other websites and stores."

A good looking extension of your hand

"The pen writes well, feels comfortable in hand and is a real bargain at the price. I chose the fine nib and that gives the perfect line for me - attractively wide, not a ribbon but not just a whiff either. The only thing keeping it from being an absolute great pen is the slight difficulty inserting the filling converter into the front end. Not insurmountable; I managed but with a little more effort than should be required. Having accomplished that, all is fine and I am really enjoying the pen. Oh, and it looks good too!"

Levenger Carrara Fountain Pen

"Wonderful colors - a nice change from other, far more expensive fountain pens. I have several Levenger pens so I switch them out every week!"
