Rolltop Desk Organizer

"The RDO is a beautiful and functional piece of desktop furniture just as are all the other Levenger desk products that I own. I’m using it to convert desktop clutter to an organized vertical space, and it excels at this. So why did I deduct one star? It needs to be bigger in all dimensions by 1/2 inch to maybe 1 inch at most. At least the top compartment needs to be 1/2” taller. Why? Well the top compartment won’t hold a Pilot Iroshikuku ink bottle by about 1/4”, and this brand is one of the most popular inks. Also, the top compartment can’t hold more than about one letter pad, more will keep the rolltop from closing. This problem is common of all rolltops not just this product, but if it were 1/2 inch to 3/4” deeper, you might be able to get 2-3 pads in the top compartment. I’m just being picky though, this is a beautiful and functional piece of gear. But if one a tiny bit bigger comes along, I’ll buy it."

Time May Tell the Ultimate, True Rating . . .

"It certainly looks very nice, and I think it will prove to be quite utilitarian. The first thing I must say is that I'm a HUGE fan of a tambour doors feature on furniture items, but this almost seems like a lost art in wood piece manufacturing, and one that has just about now vanished into history. My grandparents had some larger, cabinet type furniture pieces like that, a long time ago. They were ornate, and of a VERY high quality. You don't really see that sort of thing any more -- or at least I haven't. I think it's hard to make them really well, and durable. The next thing I wanted to say applies as well to a couple other Levenger wooden office furniture or accessory pieces that I've purchased more recently. I truly despise MDF / particle board, which I equate with junk quality items, and when I saw that these pieces included that, I immediately considered returning them -- even with all the hassle that would entail. (And I'm leery about these pieces being made in China anyway, for a number of reasons. ) I can recall a time much earlier in Levenger's history when they sold office furniture pieces made of wood that were either of solid, quality hardwoods (or they certainly *appeared* to be), or were at least veneer jobs of a rather high order. And I think quite possibly made in the U. S. Items that I think have not appeared in the Levenger catalogs for a long, long time. These were definitely pieces that would stand the test of time. It may be that to offer such pieces today would become unavoidably and prohibitively expensive ? I just have some real doubts that these items from Levenger today can measure up to category-similar items they sold in decades past."

Q&A

Is this designed to work with the Cubi system?
It is not specifically designed for the Cubi system. While it may work in the space, it will not sit flush against a Cubi Bookcase due to the slightly larger base ledge.
